Locals and visitors alike gather to crack shells, celebrate the beloved mudbugs, and prove that North Louisiana knows how to party just as hard as anywhere else in the state. Every Memorial Day weekend, the riverfront comes alive with three days of music, art installations, and regional cuisine that draws crowds from across the state. The event sprawls across Julius Breckling Riverfront Park, the bustling River Market District in Little Rock, and extends to North Little Rock's North Shore Riverwalk—a perfect setup for exploring multiple neighborhoods in the crisp late-spring air. Behind the festival is a nonprofit organization that's been operating since 1978, channeling proceeds back into the parks and cultural spaces themselves, with more than $700,000 invested in these public areas over the decades. The whole operation centers on creating an accessible gathering where families can experience live performances, visual arts, and local food vendors all in one weekend, designed with the community's cultural enrichment in mind.
