Waialae Bowl, the only bowling center within several miles of the neighborhood, was somewhat interestingly built into a McDonald's, at the corner opposite the movie theater. Unfortunately, it has since closed down (not related to the flood, however.)
The movie theater in this mall was closed in March 2006. It has since reopened. The closing occurred as a result of flooding from heavy rains. The flood broke a hole through the wall of the theater and flowed into the mall, and parts of the ground floor had 3-6 inches of rain water. Many shops suffered substantially; some never reopened. The Staten Island Mall is a shopping mall in the Staten Island borough of New York City. The only indoor shopping mall in the borough, the mall is located in the New Springville neighborhood along a busy stretch of Richmond Avenue, which served as a courtyard for the Fresh Kills Landfill. Its location puts it near the geographic center of the island. It opened for business on August 9, 1973, built on a 105-acre site of what was once a semi-public airport. Northgate Mall opened in 1972 on the former site of the Mt. Healthy Airport. When it opened, the Mall was heralded as "one of the largest and most modern shopping centers in the country" which was expected to "change the shopping habits of the area."
The Mall has more than 1.1 million square feet of retail space, and is comprised of more than 100 specialty shops and four department stores: Lazarus, Dillard's, JCPenney and Sears.

Hamilton Place is an enclosed, two-story shopping mall in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was the largest shopping mall in the state of Tennessee when it opened in 1987. The original anchors were Belk, Hess's, Parisian, Proffitt's, Regal Cinemas and Sears. A JCPenney store was added later. Currently, Hamilton Place comprises more than 150 stores and restaurants. Current anchor stores include JCPenney, Sears, as well as two locations each for Belk and Dillard's. Regal Cinemas closed in late 2007 and will be replaced with a Barnes and Noble that will open in fall 2008. Hamilton Place Mall has also announced a $100 million expansion which will include two parking garages, a lifestyle center, and other renovations inside and outside the existing mall. To pay for the expansion, CBL proposes an additional half-percent to 1 percent fee added to any purchase made at the mall or at five other CBL centers within a one-mile radius of Hamilton Place, company officials said. The other locations are Gunbarrel Pointe, Hamilton Corner, Hamilton Crossing, The Shoppes at Hamilton Place and The Terrace. Source
